The Windy City

Chicago, Illinois is a city brimming with life and vivacity. While it may not actually be the “city that never sleeps,” it more than deserves the title. Whether you are planning on taking in the sights at Millennium Park, or watching a Chicago Bears football game in the snow, you can find something for everyone in Chicago.
The “windy city” has a wide variety of sporting event activities to offer its residents and visitors. Chicago has professional sports teams in football, basketball, baseball and hockey, to name a few. If you find yourself visiting in the fall, don’t miss an exciting Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field. During the blustery Chicago winter, be sure to warm up inside United Center Arena and cheer the Bulls on to victory. It won’t be long until summer starts and you can soak up the sun while rooting for the Cubs or the White Sox. Whatever your pleasure, Chicago has something for every sports fanatic.
While Chicago does have a booming sports venue, the rest of the city is also teeming with fun and exciting things to do. Take an afternoon and appreciate one of Chicago’s most beautiful collections of art and architecture as you stroll through Millennium Park. View the city, and yourself, in a whole different way when visiting Cloud Gate (or as locals call it “The Bean”) at the center of the Park. Next stop at Crown Fountain, where you can stand in front of a 50-foot water tower constructed of glass blocks depicting video images of 1,000 different Chicago residents.  Finally, take a night to experience one of Millennium Park’s many outdoor concerts. Grab a blanket and enjoy the sound of classical music under a starry sky with that one special someone.
But if you still are not satisfied, maybe you would enjoy a stop at one of Chicago’s many museums or historical landmarks. If you are into history, you may want to head to the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago’s North Side and visit the site of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. But maybe you are looking for something a little less morbid, then stop by the Chicago History Museum to boost your attitude. Walk through its interactive exhibits and discover for yourself how Chicago developed and blossomed into the booming city of culture and commerce it is today.
Endless days filled with fun and excitement is what you and your family will find when visiting Chicago. The activities discussed here are but a small sample of all the fun and exciting things to do in the city. But, a word to the wise, don’t even attempt to navigate downtown in your car. The bumper to bumper stop-and-go traffic keeps the Chicago break repair industry booming. Instead, become a true Chicagoan, and learn to navigate the bus system. It can take you anywhere you want to go while also giving you the authentic Chicago feel. Don’t rule out this city of wonder when planning your next family outing. It is sure to be a trip no one will soon forget.
