Sportsbook Site – Wild Weekend Changes the Heisman Race

It was a crazy weekend in college football sport betting and there was a key shakeup in Heisman probabilities at the sports book page. A week ago it was Terrelle Pryor who seemed like the favorite with Denard Robinson in the contest.  Now it looks both of those competitors are long shots with regards to Heisman odds at the offshore sports book.

 

Cameron Newton the New Favorite – The consensus now is that Auburn qb Cameron Newton is the fave to win the Heisman in college football betting.  Yet we seem to have a new favorite each week so that could adjust.   Newton was brilliant last week as he had 328 total yards and 4 touchdowns in a 65-43 win over Arkansas. He gets the focus again this week as Auburn competes LSU in the game of the week in college football.

 

Newton is on his 3rd college in his NCAA football career. He began at the University of Florida where he was the back up for future Heisman Trophy champion Tim Tebow. Shortly after he was suspended and arrested for taking a laptop from a fellow student’s dorm room, he relocated to

Blinn College in Texas. He was ranked by Rivals.com as their sole 5-star qb recruit and the #1 junior college contender for 2010. He then moved to Auburn University where he instantly became their starting quarterback. He was named FBS National Performer of the Week by College Football Performance Awards, as well as SEC Player of the Week, for his performance throughout Week 1 of the 2010 season. He had a 2nd break-out game during Week 3.

 

Pryor, Mallett, Robinson as well as Martinez all tumble – It was a bad week for Terrelle Pryor, Ryan Mallett, Denard Robinson and Taylor Martinez.  The Buckeyes, Razorbacks, Wolverines and Cornhuskers all lost and each teams’ qb didn’t perform well.  Mallett is the only one with a justification as he suffered a concussion and had to leave the match. The other 3 just did not play that well and their probabilities are essentially carried out.

 

Newton a Great Value – If you can still find Newton with probabilities of 9-1 or so on the sportsbook page then you ought to leap on them.  His lines ought to be more like 3-1 at the offshore sportsbook.  He is going to get the focus considering he competes in the SEC and because Auburn is unbeaten.

 

LaMichael James – If you don’t think that Newton will win then the player to bet on is James. He competes for the top-ranked Oregon Ducks who might not lose the remainder of the year. He gets to show the country his stuff on Thursday evening as the Ducks play UCLA in a competition they should win handily.  James ought to be right with Newton if he has a major competition on Thursday.

 

Longshot – Boise State’s Kellen Moore is still in the discussion but the Broncos do not play anyone and unless Newton or James completely falls apart he’s not going to win it because nobody will see Moore play and Boise is never in a competitive game.
