Cornhusker Football VS Nittany Lion Football – Best Fans?

Are you a dedicated Penn State Football Fan? Or are your cheers reserved for Nebraska Football? These 2 college teams will be meeting up starting in the 2011 college football season because Nebraska joins the Big 10 and because on the field analysis will be focused on who will win , I wanted to come at these two powerhouses from a different place and see if I could solve the question. Who has the greatest football fans?

First I should explain my perspective on this unique question. I am Pennsylvania raised – Go Lions! I married a Nebraskan and this obligates me to keep a peaceful home – Go Cornhuskers! So I do like to believe I can provide a fair opinion here… okay , at least I want to believe that, you might very well think differently and that’s okay .

Penn State has the greatest football fans because…

1. Okay, this is an easy reason …the Penn State White Out. The White Out is a proud tradition for Penn State that is even printed on the student section tickets. On specially designated White Out games, each Nittany Lion fan coming into Beaver Stadium is encouraged to wear white as a symbol of their Penn State Pride.

2. The Student Section. ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, named the PSU Student Section was “the best in the country”. Beaver Stadium, with a seating capacity of 107,282 is often called as the roughest arena for opposing teams. In the year 2008, the student section was honored as being the best in college football for the 2nd year in a row.

Nebraska has the greatest football fans because…

1. They have the longest ongoing sell out record for home games, leading all other college football teams. They celebrated their 306th sell out on September 11, 2010. The record dates back to November 3rd, 1962.

2. They are well known as the friendliest fans in college football and this praise comes from opposing teams as well. For example, when Texas broke Nebraska’s home win record , the year Ricky Williams played, instead of throwing things the ever classy Nebraska fans clapped for Ricky Williams and joined in a chant of “Heisman, Heisman”. This is class in my book.

So there it is , Penn State has the White Out and a powerful student section yet Nebraska has ever present fans that show up at the stadium and a continually demonstrate a whole lot of class.

All I know is that come the 2011 college football season , I am going to have a rough time when Nebraska and Penn State share the field as powerhouses in the Big Ten Conference.
