A Silent Giant
Who is this Boise State football team? A team that nobody knew. Where did they come from? This isn’t Oklahoma you know! From silence to success. This really is how to describe Boise State Broncos football. You just didn’t hear much about this football plan prior to the 1999 season. A switch from one conference to an additional for the 2002 campaign may have helped. 
Even so, the football program became really well know beginning with the 2006 season. 3 excellent seasons over a 5 year time span. Somebody awoke this sleeping giant. Maybe it was the critics saying they had no competition. A group with a definite advantage when playing on their residence turf. Not losing a house game in about 5 years. That’s hard  for any team to accomplish but that is Boise State we’re talking about here. 

Excellent Season #1  What a shocker to everybody. A team that once was never a factor & now turned into a legit contender. A team that comes from a smaller conference & goes undefeated. A smaller school actually playing in a BCS bowl. Not only playing but winning the 2006 Fiesta Bowl against a powerhouse football program in Oklahoma. Maybe one of the greatest bowl games in recent history. 
How could this “sleeping” giant beat a giant that’s been awake for years? A somewhat surprise call to try a 2-point play to win the game. The only group to go without a loss in major college football for the 2006 season. Now, this football program we never heard of has awakened all college football fans alike. 
How did a school like Boise make it into the top 10(#8 rank) college football polls? How did a school like this beat a school rich in football tradition like Oklahoma? Well, this victory & season showed football fans everywhere what a Bronco could do!  
One more Unblemished Campaign
3 years later there couldn’t be one more best season. This sleeping giant has awakened but it couldn’t possibly happen again. This time they even bettered their record from the 2006 season. Instead of getting 13 wins they had 14. Yeah, 14 wins with no losses again. Only the 2nd time in history a college football group had won 14 games in a season with no losses. Another victory in the Fiesta Bowl. This time against the Horned Frogs of TCU. Now, are you asking who’s Boise State? You just had a group not well known a few years ago & now they have two best seasons in 4 years.   
Odd Looking Residence Field
Have you ever watched a football game in “blue”? No, not while you have the “blues”. I’m talking about watching a game where the teams are playing on a blue-colored surface. Yep! That’s what you get when watching a Boise State house football game. No, it’s not the traditional green that we’re accustomed to watching. Could that be the “Smurfs” we’re seeing out on the field? That is what Boise State fans have been looking at for nearly 25 years going now.
